The Enterprise Europe Network is a European Union initiative aimed at providing business and innovation support to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe. The Enterprise Europe Network remains the world's largest business and innovation support network and currently consists of 600 partner organisations located in 63 countries. More than 4500 internationalisation experts and technology transfer practitioners offer a wide range of business and innovation support services to enterprises. The members of the Enterprise Europe Network are chambers of commerce, regional development organisations, SME organisations, research institutes, universities, technology centres and innovation centres. Their specialised knowledge of the local and regional business environment ensures that their services offer real added-value to their clients, mainly SMEs.
In India, Enterprise Europe Network is jointly coordinated by the European Business & Technology Centre(EBTC), Global Innovation & Technology Alliance (GITA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) and the Steinbeis Centre for Technology Transfer India (SCTI).
Through this platform, the Network helps companies, who are looking to improve their business or expand to new markets or ways to profit from their innovation, by using EEN’s database of technology offers and requests, containing around 7,000 profiles, bringing research and commercial applications together.
Creating a Technology Request/ Technology Offer (TR/TO) Profile is the first step towards achieving this goal. Based on the requirement of the company (or client), GITA creates a profile (which may be a TR or TO) on the EEN platform which provides details about the kind of partnership that is sought and the kind of technology that is either requested or offered by the company. The profile is then reviewed by technical expert reviewers (sector specific) of EEN who validate the profile to be published. Once the profile is published, Expressions of Interest for the profile would be received by GITA who further shares this with the company (or client). GITA then facilitates in connecting the company with the EOI sender for further discussion on any collaboration opportunities between them. Partnership Agreements follow after the Indian and European companies mutually decide to pursue a business opportunity or technology project.
