The objective of the Summit has been further strengthened by launch of Global Innovation and Technology Alliance (GITA), a joint initiative of DST and CII, for promotion and facilitation of industrial R&D programmes of India with other countries. Mission to Israel on Renewable Energy Technologies and Water Technology, Harvesting & Management - Opportunities for Collaboration with Israel GITA is implementing the Indo Israel Initiative for Industrial R&D Programme (i4RD). As part of the programme's objectives to promote and facilitate bilateral R&D / ventures in this area, a delegation focussing on Renewable Energy Technologies of several Israeli companies visited India in April 08. As a follow up, a mission to Israel with a focus on Renewable Energy Technologies and Water Technology, Harvesting & Management to provide partnership opportunities to Indian industry and organisations with Israeli counterparts has been planned in July 08*. Several Indian companies who participated in the inbound Mission in April are in advanced dialogue for collaborations and will be part of the delegation. GITA is working closely with MATIMOP, the Israeli Industry center for R&D and these companies to formulate the Mission programme. Immediate confirmation to facilitate planning of the program to suit individual requirements, particularly one to one meetings may be sent. Suggestions on the Mission program are most welcome. Exhibition of stand-alone drinking water purification systems Invitation to manufacturers / suppliers The Government of India, under the Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission (RGNDWM) of the Ministry of Rural Development is planning to install 30,000 stand alone drinking water purification systems in 30,000 rural schools throughout the country at an estimated cost of Rs. 200 crores during 2008-09. To facilitate this initiative, the Department of Drinking Water Supply is supporting exhibitions through Global Innovation & Technology Alliance (GITA), a not for profit society, promoted by Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for prospective manufacturers/suppliers of suitable stand-alone water purifications systems in July 19 - 21, 2008.
