India-EU Cleantech Partnerships Set To Go Up – 38 EoIs signed in Global Technology partnership Forum in New Delhi

New Delhi, May 12: The joint India-EU business and research initiative on clean-technology, organised under the aegis of Global Technology Partnership Forum by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) concluded today.

The Minister for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal, inaugurated this high powered forum on the occasion of the National Technology Day in New Delhi yesterday. He expressed his happiness that the technology partnerships, especially in the areas of waste management, water treatment and renewable energy between the two are set to go up with EU’s vast expertise in these areas and India’s proven need for the same.

Later in the day, Hon'ble Minister for New & Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah delivering the Keynote Address in the Power Session: Renewable Energy, expressed that both EU and India can work together for developing untapped clean energy markets in their domain. There is huge scope for exchange of ideas, experiences.He also mentioned that India wants to play an effective role in the international community for renewable energy development.

The interactive sessions during the day with the stakeholders gave an opportunity to know more about a spectrum of available technology in India as well as EU member states for solving the societal challenges mainly in the areas of Renewable Energy, Municipal and industrial waste management ,Water treatment for industrial and Municipal water use.

Today, a know-how session was organized for the European delegates which gave them information on the varied opportunities that India offers for doing business conveniently.

The forum also witnessed one-to-one meetings between EU delegates and Indian counterparts. These meetings concluded with signing of as many as 38 EoIs among the participants who committed to explore partnerships for collaborative product or process development.

The two day forum gave an ideal learning platform to the relevant stakeholders to understand the value of technological collaborations in the present context of fast changing global economy, when businesses in both Europe and India are striving to improve their performances and exploit new opportunities in order to stay ahead of the game.
