INDO-ISRAEL INITIATIVE FOR INDUSTRIAL R&D (i4RD) PROGRAMME
INDIA-ISRAEL COLLABORATIVE R&D PROJECTS PROGRAM OVERVIEW On May, 2005, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor State of Israel have agreed to form i4RD with a primary aim to support joint industrial R&D projects aimed at development of products or processes leading to commercialization in the global market. The projects should involve at least one Indian and one Israeli company. Within the context of the S&T agreement, funding mechanisms have been created, through which industry and research organizations may seek support for joint bilateral research and development (R&D) projects and support is available for collaborative industrial R&D ventures between Indian and Israeli companies. For India, funding and other services will be provided through Global Innovation & Technology Alliance (GITA), a non-governmental organization, engaged by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. For Israel, the same will be provided through MATIMOP on behalf of the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) of the Israeli Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor (MOITAL). These agencies are known as Implementing Organizations for this purpose. Specific contacts and coordinates for the Indian and Israeli implementing organizations are provided at the end of this document. ELIGIBILITY Israeli Applicants Eligible applicants will be researchers and managers representing Israeli companies or other institutes which operate and are headquartered in Israel. Subsidiaries of firms headquartered and owned outside Israel are not eligible for support. Indian Applicants Eligible applicants will be researchers and managers representing Indian companies or other institutes which operate and are headquartered in India. Subsidiaries of firms headquartered and owned outside India are not eligible for support. Companies with sole proprietorship or developed under complete entrepreneurship may also forward their collaborative proposals, provided they are registered under Indian Company Act. Necessary documents of registration are to be furnished to GITA in these cases along with the Common Application Format and the National Format. TIMELINE FOR CALL The cut off dates (last date for submission) of proposal for the 5th, 6th and 7th Call for Proposals are June 30, 08, September 30, 08 and December 31, 08.
